Superman Cookies!

My lovely cousin's birthday was a couple weeks ago, and I promised her I would make some Superman cookies to make her birthday super!
Ever since I seem these on a couple different blogs, I've been dying to try them out myself.
I was excited when I realized Amanda and I were the perfect candidates for these cookies!
I hand cut them, and then once baked and cooled, I used a decorating marker to trace out the shield's S.
Then of course I got to use some royal icing and create these awesome cookies.
I shipped them to her clearrrrrrr in Idaho! Luckily she was able to still eat them and they were yummy even though two of them cracked a little in their travels.

Happy Birthday Amanda Mae!
Her cute baby girl liked the cookies too ;D
Thanks for reading :) I'm taking a cake decorating class from Michael's, so I'm sure the cake we're making next week will be my next entry ;)
Wish me luck!

Oh My Heels!

If anybody knows me.. They would know that these cookies are.. ME TO A TEE!
I love high heels.. My mother likes to pretend I don't have this crazy love, but even she knows I can't help it when.. I buy new high heels.. And nail polish. And makeup... Ahem..
At least these ones were edible!!!!!

I also have this sick obsession for wanting a pair of $1,000+ pair of Louboutin high heels....
That's where I got the idea to do these fancy high heels. The ones that have the red soles are Louboutin inspired. :D
Yeah, I know it's crazy.. But just browsing images of Louboutin heels feed my shoe addiction for me. ;)

I found images that I wanted to use for my cookies, and I printed them, then cut them out and laminated them so I could get the perfect sized high heels, nail polish, lipstick, and perfume bottle outlines.
Then I just whipped up some royal flood icing, and got busy creating girly cookies!

Ever since our Kitchen-Aid broke.. I've been having to use the Bosch a bit more. And while I love it and all it can do.. It just doesn't give me the right consistency for my royal icing. I think I might have over whipped this batch before I added my colors and what not. So they didn't dry as smoothly as my other cookies have before. I'm keeping my eye out for a new Kitchen-Aid! (Christmas/Birthday present idea??)

These little circle cookies were just for fun.. They didn't have any great link to the Louboutins or the make up.. Although now that I think about it.. They could easily pass as blush pallets? Who knows!

Thanks for reading! After this overwhelming GIRLY project.. I'll proudly announce that I have a football cake to make this week! :D Wish me luck!!!

Princess Sugar Cookies

Saturday, my place of working was evacuated because of a gas leak in the street. What better what better way to spend my time than to go to Michael's?????
I couldn't resist the temptation!
First thing I did when I walked through the door was make my way over to the Wilton products. And these little jewels caught my eye. [Amongst many other things...]
Adorable little princess cookie cutters! Now, I'm not one to stock up on cookie cutters.. My mom has a drawer full of them that I go to when in need of sugar cookies. But I couldn't NOT buy these. They were just too cute. And they are soooo me.. high heels.. tiaras.. princess castle.. Yep, I was done for as soon as I saw them.

So I came home and planned on making some more sugar cookies to practice the Royal flood icing method.

Aren't they just so cute?

My little helper had these counted, but I don't remember how many we had.

After my cookies were cooling, I made up a batch of Royal icing. :)
~2 lbs. of Powdered Sugar
~1/3 cup + 1 TBS of Meringue Powder
~3/4 cup warm water
[I added about 1 1/2 TBS of Almond Extract for taste.]

Black, Pink, Blue, White!

They were pretty fun to decorate, and I'm excited for new decorations!

Hopefully you'll see my next adventure this weekend... It's gonna be a big one!

Flooding Cookies!!!

I decided I wanted to make some super cute sugar cookies, but I wasn't up for the idea of trying to make things work with piping decorations on my cookies, and finding cute shapes to cut out.

So, I went with the easy route of plain circle cookies, and tried my hand at Royal icing!
I must say this was so fun and easy, that I don't think I'll ever frost sugar cookies any other way again!

After doing a little bit of searching on Google and different blogs, and watching several YouTube videos, I finally found a Royal icing recipe I liked from SweetSugarBelle. It didn't taste so great though, so next time I'm going to use more almond extract as flavoring.

I had my little helper with me, and we got busy rolling out dough and cutting circles.

And then we waited until they all baked and cooled before we got busy decorating!

I went and bought these cute little bottles at WalMart for three bucks, and they were perfect for the Royal flood icing method.

Then I just went to town! I came up with random little swirly's and polka dots in these cute colors.

When they dried over night, I was able to stack them on plates and take them around to friends around town. Everyone loved them, and I have definitely found a new way to decorate my sugar cookies!
